School and college leavers in Brighton, London and West Midlands areas are encouraged to consider all their post-16 education options as Skills Training UK continues to work hard to safely reopen our Centres in August following the coronavirus lockdown.
Young people in England must remain in education until aged 18 and we are highlighting our range of free vocational options for 16-24 year-olds seeking an alternative to college and sixth form in summer 2020.
Our Centres offer two routes for young people – a range of Level 2 BTEC qualifications, including English and maths for 16-18 year-olds, and Traineeships for 16-24 year-olds. All routes offer qualifications in specific work sectors, such as Business Administration, Customer Service, and Health and Social Care.
They were closed at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic but have been running courses online for learners with virtual classrooms and one-to-one video support.
Our Centres are now reopening in accordance with the latest Government and public health guidelines and will continue delivering courses and support online. Keep up-to-date and find out more details here.
Graham Clarke, Director of Education and Social Mobility, said: “We know this has been a challenging time for everyone and I would like to thank our fantastic tutors, staff and learners for their hard work and adapting quickly and effectively to the pandemic.
“The situation is evolving rapidly and we may need to respond to unknown future challenges but we are excited to be preparing to reopen our Centres for early August as safely and as responsibly as possible, whilst still providing online courses and support.
“We hope young people who might understandably be unsure about their post-16 education future will consider our programmes to help them reach their next level of study, an apprenticeship or full-time employment, with new employability skills and confidence.”
Skills Training UK won the Training Provider of the Year Award at the 2019 Times Educational Supplement (TES) FE Awards and is rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted. Tutors also provide careers advice and support with job searching, CV writing, and interview skills.
Meanwhile, residents aged over 19 in Brighton and the West Midlands can sign up our online adult courses which are currently running.
