With our CEO, Guy Ballantine
Apprenticeships have come a long way since the late 90s, and have become a vital part of the UK’s employment market. They provide a unique opportunity for learners to gain real-world experience and training while earning a salary, making them an attractive option for school leavers, career changers, and those looking to upskill.
One of the best things about apprenticeships is the wide range of industries and professions they cover. From traditional trades like plumbing and electrical work to cutting-edge fields like nuclear engineering, there’s something for everyone. Take for example, a young lady who studied on one of our apprenticeships at Skills Training UK. She now carries out non-destructive testing on nuclear submarines, helping keep us all safe. It’s stories like this that showcase the incredible impact apprenticeships can have on an individual’s career.
Apprenticeships have the power to transform lives, providing learners with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in their chosen field. They can also be a turning point in terms of academic achievement and employment opportunities, leading to higher earnings potential and better job prospects. Many world-class careers have been built on the foundation of an apprenticeship, and the numbers continue to grow.
Despite the many benefits of apprenticeships, there is still a lack of awareness among those who could benefit from them. This is something that needs to change, and at Skills Training UK, we are committed to doing our part. We are dedicated to developing and delivering innovative apprenticeships that meet the needs of both apprentices and their employers. By doing so, we aim to increase awareness and appreciation of the value of apprenticeships, and help more people achieve their career goals.
To sum up, apprenticeships have undergone significant growth and professionalization since I started work, and have become a crucial aspect of the UK’s employment market. They offer a one-of-a-kind chance for individuals to acquire hands-on experience and training while earning a salary, making them an appealing choice for school leavers, those looking to change careers, and those wanting to improve their skills. At Skills Training UK, our aim is to create and deliver inventive apprenticeships that cater to both the apprentices and their employers with an objective to improve understanding and recognition of the worth of apprenticeships, ultimately helping more individuals attain their career aspirations.
