In Memoriam

In loving memory of Kate Willets

We are so proud to announce that the team raised £2,190 for Cancer Research UK in memory of Kate during the festive season of 2022.

We are very proud to remember our colleague and friend, Kate Willetts, who sadly lost her brave fight with cancer while working with us on the 24th of December 2021 at just 48 years old. Kate had many friends across the Skills Training UK team, both in her hometown of Dudley and across the entire business- her wonderful personality and amazing work ethic, alongside her genuine care for her learners really made an impact. Kate started working at Skills Training UK, Dudley Centre in June of 2015 as a Tutor for Business Admin and later also took on teaching Personal Development.

When the Centre Manager at the time left, Kate was asked to cover which she did with enthusiasm. There were a lot of changes at Skills Training at the time and when everything settled down again, Kate jumped at the chance to become a mentor, a role in which she thrived. Kate had a very good rapport with her learners.  Working directly with the learners again made her very happy and she enjoyed supporting them and steering them in their most beneficial direction.

“Wherever a beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of beautiful memories.”

Ronald Regan

In 2020 Kate was diagnosed with bowel cancer. Kate fought through chemo treatment and radiotherapy, but sadly from December 2021 nothing more could be done.  Kate worked as part of the Centre Support Services, helping her learners, until the end: she was admitted to hospital on 19th of December, and she spent her 48th birthday in hospital on the 22nd of December and was so happy to receive video messages from her friends at Skills Training.
