As the launch of the Non-Destructive Testing Apprenticeship standards reaches its five-year anniversary, employers involved with materials testing are being encouraged to join a free webinar to learn about the impact training programmes can have on both staff and productivity.
Leading NDT Apprenticeship provider Skills Training UK will host the information webinar on March 31st at 2pm, alongside key partners from the British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing and employers who have embraced Apprenticeships as part of their ongoing workforce strategy.
Skills Training UK delivers the Level 2 NDT Operator, Level 3 NDT Engineering Technician and Level 6 NDT Engineer degree level Apprenticeship, alongside key training schools’ iMeche Argyll Ruane, Lavender International, TWI, The South West School of NDT, and the University of Northampton.
This unique relationship with existing industry partners makes it easier for employers to invest in training. Over 200 Apprentices are now engaged with the programme, and an expected 348 NDT Level 2 Certifications to be completed in the next couple of years.
The lasting effect of new Apprentices is helping curb ageing workforces and drive professionalism and new standards across the industry.
Sam Cunningham, NDT Account Manager at Skills Training UK and Chair of the Education and Training Committee at the BINDT, said; “We are delighted to host this webinar to provide advice and guidance for employers considering the NDT Apprenticeship route.
“Since the launch five years ago, the impact of the NDT Apprenticeship scheme continues to be far reaching, with rail, automotive, advanced manufacturing, energy and wider STEM employers using both the Apprenticeship Levy and wider government support to embrace the value of continuous training.”
During the webinar, employers will hear some of these stories and learn more about what support Skills Training UK and partners can provide, from helping them understand the latest funding available, to recruitment support for new apprentices.
Nathan Bates, Technical Manager at Applied Inspection, mentioned how the benefits of Apprenticeships allow greater opportunities for both employers and employees in the sector;
“To achieve a PCN Level 3 in NDT can cost in the region of £2000, so not all companies are going to be able to justify that outlay. The Apprenticeship route allows continuing professional development and a chance to upskill that’s fully funded, so it’s brilliant for the guys on the course and is manageable for your employer.”
