2021 West London Business Awards – Education and Training Provider of the Year

Skills Training UK is delighted to announce that we are a finalist in the 2021 West London Business Awards in two categories – Education and Training Provider of the Year, and for the Apprentice of the Year category which we entered with Evette Smith of The Royal Marsden NHS Trust Hospital who is a Business Administration Level 3 apprentice.

The West London Business Awards 2021, which is now in its eighth year, will celebrate businesses that have stood out for their achievements through five themes of: SME Sector Leadership, Sustainable & Responsible Business, Economic Resilience, Corporate Leadership, and Individual Leadership.

The Education and Training Provider of the Year identifies, recognises and celebrates providers that are making a positive impact on West London’s economy through their high-quality provision. The Apprentice of the Year award, meanwhile, will be awarded to an individual Apprentice who has made an exceptional contribution to their employer’s West London workplace.

Skills Training UK pride ourselves on making a positive difference to the lives of every young person or adult who joins one of our programmes, and we have two training centres in West London in Ealing and Wembley.

The shortlisting announcements follow a challenging year, during which we used our agility, entrepreneurial skills and passion to ensure every learner could continue throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

Martin Dunford OBE, Chief Executive, Skills Training UK, said: “Since the beginning of the pandemic, we have welcomed and continued to train young people and adults through apprenticeships, traineeships or one of our other vocational training programmes and to date have delivered over 5,000 online learning sessions, including approximately 1,560 to West London learners.

“We have also invested in our West London Centres and recently opened a new training centre in Wembley with eight training rooms which has been very positively received by many local people.”

Evette Smith, who has been selected as a finalist for Apprentice of the Year, works within the Billing Department for Royal Marsden Hospital and is currently near completion of her Business Administration Level 3 Apprenticeship. Her goal is to upskill and develop further knowledge, skills and behaviours within her role in business administration.

Evette said: “I applied for the Business Administration Apprenticeship Level 3 because I knew I had more to achieve, more to give, but no way of showing this without a practical demonstration or up to date qualifications.

“I cannot afford to go back to college or university, but through the support of the Royal Marsden Hospital and Skills Training UK I am able to reach my full potential.”

The awards ceremony will be hosted online for the first time on Thursday 4th February 2021, where the winners of each category, as well as the overall ‘West London Company of the Year’, will be announced.
