Lean Manufacturing Operative Level 2

Manufacturing offers opportunities for a varied career as new technologies and processes develop.

Lean Manufacturing Operatives are responsible for safely carrying out manufacturing activities for one or many products, ensuring quality standards and health and safety requirements are met.

They contribute, develop and support improvement in manufacturing operations using continuous improvement methods, kaizen tools, process visualisation, lean principles and problem-solving tools and techniques.

Typical Job Roles: Manufacturing Production Operative; Manufacturing Assembly Operative; Manufacturing Quality Assurance Operative; Manufacturing Logistics Operative; Manufacturing Process/Finishing Operative.

What does an employer need to do?
  • provide the learner with the opportunity to take part in work and projects which to produce a portfolio of evidence required for Apprenticeship assessment and completion.
  • Take part in progress reviews at regular intervals.
  • Have some involvement in the project(s) being undertaken.
  • Allow the apprentice an agreed amount of classroom time.

Skills and Practical Application

  • Demonstrate their skill and knowledge following Standard Operating Procedures
  • Quality Control – Demonstrate appropriate process documentation control.

Eligability criteria

Apprentices without Level 1 English and maths will need to achieve this level and take the test for Level 2 English and maths prior to taking the Independent End Point Assessment.

 

Qualifications and professional recognition

Level 3 competency.

End Point Assessment

To successfully complete the apprenticeship, the learner needs to pass an independent End Point Assessment which consists of two assessment methods:

  • Two hour observation with question and answers
  • Professional discussion referencing the Apprentice’s evidence log
