Move management firm Sargents hails Apprenticeships

Leading Kent based move management firm Sargents, which has in excess of 60 employees, has celebrated National Apprenticeships Week (6-10 February) by announcing their innovative Apprentices Programme developed in conjunction with employability and skills provider Skills Training UK.

The company, based on the Fordgate Business Park in Thamesmead, Kent and owned by Restore plc, provides move management and storage services in London and south east England with clients including many blue chip city banking, legal and media firms.

Sargents has partnered with employability and skills provider Skills Training UK to devise a tailored Team Leading Apprenticeship programme. It is helping to ensure a pipeline of employees who have developed the specific skills required for supervisory roles in the business. The Apprenticeship includes areas like time management; communication; handling paperwork and problem solving.

Currently nine staff members are working towards National Vocational Qualifications at Level 2 in Team Leading, with a further 12 staff enrolling on the programme throughout February. Skills Training UK’s assessors visit the workplace regularly to give training, assess tasks which have been set and give personal support to each employee. Bespoke workshops will also be delivered in a new training centre, which is part of Sargents’ investment and which will also give employees a quiet place to study.
