Incentive payments

Traineeships provide young people aged 16-24 with industry specific training and work experience.

For a successful Traineeship, we partner with employers of all kinds and all sizes so that young people can get the most from their work experience and employers have the opportunity to recruit fresh talent in their industry.

The placement must be started and completed between 1 September 2020 and the end of July 2021.

What does Traineeship work experience involve?

Traineeship eligibility has been expanded to young people aged 16-24 with qualifications up to Level 3 (equivalent to ‘A’ Level).

Work experience should be 70 hours or more and will include an agreement to interview a trainee if there is a suitable vacancy at the company once work experience is complete.

It is important to find the right person for your company and we are delighted to have supported some many successful experiences for both employer and trainee. We fully support you by preparing trainees with vocational and other skills in their pre-placement training.

Companies which offer their trainees progression on to an apprenticeship qualify for a further grant of up to £2,500.
